London Wasps support the Bucks School Games

Read about our support for the games held in Aylesbury

On Thursday 19th July our Community Rugby Coaches Ben Smiley and Ian Isham supported the Youth Sport Trust and the Rugby Football Union in Buckinghamshire delivery of the rugby element of the 2012 Bucks School Games.

Following an opening ceremony at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the home of the Paralympic Games, a total of 16 Tag Rugby teams (8 x Year 5/6 mixed teams and 8 x Year 7/8 girls teams) moved to the rugby venue at Fairford Leas, on the outskirts of Aylesbury. After 28 matches in each festival, the winning teams and Fair Play winners were presented with their trophies; while every participating player received a medal.

Following the event, Tag Rugby Festival organiser and RFU Community Rugby Coach Bob Hardman said, "The standard of Tag Rugby being played today was outstanding. The players, coaches and parents attitudes towards the development aims of the festival were excellent. Congratulations to everyone who has taken part and a big thank you to all of our valued volunteers."
