London Wasps support the Oxfordshire Chairman's Cup

Read about our support for Schools Rugby in Oxfordshire as part of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools Programme

On Wednesday 23rd May the London Wasps Community Team provided 5 staff members and our character mascot Sting to support the delivery of the annual Oxfordshire Chairman's Cup at Horspath Road Sports Ground in Oxford. The Chairman's Cup is a Tag Rugby Festival for Year 4, 5 and 6 players, with all of the Primary Schools in Oxfordshire being invited to attend.

Throughout the 2011 and 2012 academic year, London Wasps have been delivering the Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools Programme in 10 of the schools in Oxfordshire;

Following the event, Community Rugby Coach Ben Smiley said, "The Oxfordshire Chairman's Cup is a fantastic event, and we are happy to support the festival each year. It links in perfectly with the delivery of our Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools Programme in Oxfordshire."

CoacHclass is part of the Premiership Rugby Academy Programme delivered by the 12 Aviva Premiership Rugby Clubs. It is designed for players with a range of abilities between the ages of 7 and 16yrs, from beginner to high level performer. CoacHclass has been designed and developed by professional staff from London Wasps who are qualified and experienced in providing high quality programmes that inspire and motivate young players to achieve their full rugby potential. We offer a two-tiered structured pathway, that provides a challenging and rewarding player-centred learning environment, that caters for the development needs of players in the U7s to U12s age groups (London Wasps CoacHclass) and U13s to U16s (London Wasps CoacHclass Academy). Our coaches recognise and reward players that demonstrate effort, attitude, excellent values and skills throughout our CoacHclass Awards.
