Varndell hoping for a full house

London Wasps wing Tom Varndell says he’s hoping to run out in front of a full house at Adams Park for the final game of the season against Newcastle on May 5th.

Speaking at Monday’s open training session, where over 500 fans turned out in the rain to watch the team go through their paces and show their support, Varndell said a full and noisy Adams Park would be a huge boost to the team.

“We’ve won our last few Aviva Premiership games at Adams Park against London Irish and Gloucester and there’s no doubt in my mind that the noise and support the fans made in those matches, which were both incredibly tight, made a massive difference. We need everyone again for one last push in what’s a huge game for all of us.”

Varndell played a key role in helping Wasps secure a bonus point in last weekend’s game against Bath and he says the team owes it to the fans to go out and win against Newcastle.

“Our only mind-set now is to win the game. We are not contemplating anything else and we owe it to our fans as much as anyone for all they have done for us this year to do that. It was brilliant to see so many people come and watch us train this week – there was a good atmosphere and the boys all enjoyed it. It just shows how together everyone is at the moment and I hope we get to thank the fans on May 5th by delivering a win in front of a great crowd.”
