On Wednesday 7th March we were invited to support the Buckinghamshire Year 8 Emerging Schools Festival, with 16 schools attending the event held at Aylesbury RFC. Dave Larham and Ben Smiley joined the Festival referees to help officiate the event, while London Wasps winger Tom Varndell was the Guest of Honour; taking time away from his rehabilitation training to meet the teams and present the medals and trophies.

Schools from Marlow, High Wycombe, Milton Keynes, Beaconsfield, Aylesbury and Chesham were all in attendance as Great Marlow School defeated Chesham Grammar School in the final. The winners now progress to play the winners of the Oxfordshire Emerging Schools Festival later in the year, while both teams' reward from London Wasps for being finalists will be match tickets for their team and teachers to watch London Wasps vs Newcastle Falcons on Saturday 5th May at Adams Park Stadium.

Following the Emerging Schools Festival, Festival Organiser Tim Holmes (RFU Development Officer for Bucks) told wasps.co.uk, "The quality of rugby today was outstanding, and there were many teams that also deserved a place in the finals. We would like to thank London Wasps for their continued support of the Emerging Schools Programme in Buckinghamshire, and look forward to welcoming everyone to the Year 7s Festival on 28th March."
