On Saturday 3rd March we welcomed young players to Adams Park Stadium for a display of Tag Rugby on our pitch during the half-time of our Aviva Premiership Rugby fixture against London Irish. Community Partner Clubs Canvey Island RFC, Drifters RFC, Eastleigh Pirates RFC and Witney RFC provided U7s and U8s players for our Match Day Tag Rugby Challenge.
What is Tag Rugby?
Tag Rugby is a game played by teams of seven players. Each player wears a belt that has two velcro tags attached to it. The defenders have to pull one of the velcro tags from the ball-carrying attacking player, to force the player to pass the ball. The game is fast and exciting and develops the players’ agility, balance & coordination while focusing on the FUNdamental core skills of non-contact rugby.
When the teams arrived at Adams Park Stadium they each had a team photograph on the pitch with Sting and London Wasps prop Jeremy Castex
