Fly-half Ryan Davis, who featured heavily in the back to back bonus point wins in the past two weekends, says he’s looking forward to being in with a chance of involvement again on Saturday.
Davis is expected to feature in the game against his former club Exeter and says he will enjoy taking a leadership role this weekend if he gets the chance.
“I think that as a 10 you have to enjoy taking on a leadership role and hopefully if I am called on this weekend to play I will be in that position with some of the younger guys out there. Naturally in the LV=Cup there will be a lot involved who are just developing their experience at this level and I’d like to think if I’m out there I can help steer them a bit.”
Davis says with the large number of young players grabbing their chances to shine this season such as Sam Jones, Matt Everard and Christian Wade, the LV=Cup fixtures in the coming weeks offered a great opportunity for others to also put their hands up.
“We have some amazingly talented youngsters coming through here, and we have seen a lot of them recently due to the injuries to our more senior guys. They have done really well and the way in which they are grabbing their chances should be a bit of an inspiration to the others trying to do likewise. You look at young guys like Jack Wallace, Alex Cheesman, James Harris and Bob Baker, they are all great young players who are in with a great chance of showing what they can do in the next few weekends. I expect them to be out there doing as much as they can to be in with a shout with the Premiership comes around again and the LV competition is a great showcase for their developing talents.”
Growing with every game he gets under his belt in a Wasps shirt, Davis says he is also looking forward to playing his old Club this weekend.
“Exeter have done really well this year and they have a strong squad so we know that they will have fifteen guys raring to go and keen to hold onto the shirt. It won’t be easy by any means but we go into it on the back of two very good European wins and we want to build on that. For me personally, I want to take all the chances I get in the coming weeks so that when the Premiership starts up again I am at the forefront of people’s minds when it comes to selection.”
