Wasps travel to Italy in Round 5 targeting maximum points to give themselves the best possible change of qualifying for the quarter-finals. But with his side just a point clear of Bayonne in Pool 3, Young says that nothing is guaranteed.

“The Amlin Challenge Cup is important to us and we have worked hard to get ourselves into a strong position in the table. It’s important now we get what we need to get us into the quarter finals over the next two weekends. Rovigo though are not going to make life easy playing at home. They will see us a scalp and anyone who saw them at Adams Park will be aware how tough they made it for us.”

Young's charges beat Rovigo 38-7 at Adams Park when they met earlier in the competition.

With Bordeaux and Bayonne playing on Thursday night, Young’s charges will know exactly where they stand by the time kick off comes around at Stadio Mario Battaglini on Saturday but he says his side are simply focusing on winning.

“I think we obviously need to win both games and if we got a bonus point this weekend it would really strengthen our case. The other sides in the pool are playing before us but we’re not really focusing on worrying about that result. We need to win Saturday either way and after that we’ve got a tough game against Bordeaux who are doing very well in the Top 14.”
