On the morning of Sunday 20th November, our CoacHclass Team visited 2 clubs in Oxfordshire to deliver guest coaching sessions to young rugby players before our 5-try win over Rugby Rovigo. We were pleased to visit Community Partner Clubs Bicester RFC and Wallingford RFC.
Jonathan Poff leads the Haka at Wallingford RFC
Our visit to Wallingford RFC, recently confirmed as one of our Spring CoacHclass Venues, gave us an opportunity to get involved with bespoke coaching sessions and refereeing of a 3-way friendly triangular fixture involving Wallingford RFC U13s, Grove RFC U13s and Oxford RFC U13s. A coach from Grove RFC stated, "Thank you for the fantastic session. They were a transformed team in the way they defended today. It was a really impressive piece of coaching that we, as coaches, picked up a lot from and will have had a huge impact on our players."
Our visit to Wallingford RFC was further boosted by an appearance by London Wasps flanker Jonathan Poff who joined the groups to answer questions, sign autographs and gave a quick tutorial on the world famous New Zealand 'Haka'.
We will be back at Wallingford RFC on Monday 13th February for our 2-Day CoacHclass which is available for children aged 6 - 16 years. Please click here for details or to book on-line.
Our visit to Bicester RFC provided an opportunity to support their U9s and U12s age groups, with the ruck highlighted by both age group coaches as an area that could be developed. Both groups demonstrated improvements in a short amount of time with players walking away with positive development in the conatct area. A coach from Bicester RFC stated, "The feedback that has been received from our U9s and U12s is nothing but of gratitude and praise to you; so thank you very much."
