Wasps finish the second round of the Amlin Challenge Cup with ten points from ten after two bonus point wins but Young says his team must show more if they are to progress further in the competition.
"We were sloppy on occasions and we didn’t play as well as we could but we got as much out of it as we could so you have got to be happy with that. We played really well last week and we didn’t quite back it up this week. We realise there are bigger challenges to come and the two games against Bayonne will probably decide the group and I have no doubt in my mind that we’re going to have to be a lot better than today to get the results we need there. I am not totally pleased with today’s performance but we can learn from it."
Young also said he was pleased with the returning Dom Waldouck, who started his first competitive game of the season having been eased back from six months out of the game with an achilles injury.
"It was good to see him start and come through it well. He had a really nasty injury and he isn’t quite where he was yet but he is working his socks off to get there and he is only going to get better. He showed some really good touches and he is going to be a really positive player for us as the season goes on. It’s a fillip for us to have that kind of quality coming back into the team."
London Wasps are back at Adams Park on Sunday, December 4 against old rivals Harlequins. Don’t miss out – call 0844 225 2990 or book online here.
