“I have a group of very frustrated players in the changing room because they, like me, felt we weren’t helped by some of the calls today, but I have told them that we absolutely cannot use that an excuse. We were frustrated by how the tackle area was managed but you have to play to those interpretations and we didn’t. No matter how the calls are going you have to find a way to win and we didn’t do that today.”
“Parts of our play are improving every week and I thought first half our forwards did an excellent job and we did dominate large parts of that half but again we didn’t turn it into points. We need to look at that because we had our chances. I would give credit to Northampton for how they dominated the third 20 minutes, they came out firing and we missed too many tackles and allowed them to score.
“It’s a loss and it’s disappointing because it’s at home and there was a great vocal support but I have got to take some positives from it. We weren’t helped by some of the calls but it’s not the reason we lost. I have told the boys they must keep their heads up, they did some good things today and we move on to Europe next week."
