Wasps grabbed the win with tries from Tom Varndell and Christian Wade with the rest of the points coming from the boot of Nick Robinson.
“I thought we did enough to win it today. We gifted Bath some points by not using the conditions better but at the end I thought we showed a lot of character to close it out when they came at us. We found a way to win and that was important. Bath are a good team – you give them a sniff and they will hurt you.”
Both of Wasps tries were excellent finishes from the two wings but despite some excellent attacking play evident throughout, Young says the team still needs to find a better balance.
“We’ve played some exciting rugby this season so far, even in the games we have lost. We are an exciting team to watch but what we have to do better is be smarter and decide when we play tight or wide. You know you are going to get a really fast flowing game against Bath and that’s what we got today; but for me it’s about working with the players to ensure they know when it’s on to really go for it in attack and knowing when they need to be sensible. We’re still looking for that consistent balance.”
Young said there were certain aspects he was very pleased with.
“The character of the team is something I have mentioned already and our set piece, both scrum and line-out was a lot better. The discipline too was much improved and those were the things letting us down in recent weeks so I am pleased with that.”
