Hart puts onus on players to get back on track

We catch up with Wasps skipper John Hart ahead of Sunday's home game against Bath.

Following a run of defeats, Hart says that Sunday's fixture becomes hugely important even though it is still early days in the season.

“There is no doubt that this is going to be a big fixture. Going into it off the back of three losses, we simply have to win. There is also a lot of history between Wasps and Bath. Bath have been very successful in the past and so have Wasps. When two clubs with so much history meet, they obviously want to beat each other but I think that the main focus for us this weekend is getting our Premiership campaign back on track.”

“Bath can be very physical when they want to be and they can also put a lot of width on their game. We will have to match them up front and they have some dangerous runners who we will want to keep quiet. We have to focus on our game and bringing more accuracy to our attack and defence.”

However, Hart is confident that what has gone wrong in the last three games is something the team are more than capable of putting right.

“I think it is pretty obvious that last weekend and the few games before that our discipline let us down. Newcastle never looked like scoring a try but we gifted them some very easy points. If you do that when you are away from home, you are always going to struggle.”

"Looking back I think that the emphasis is all on us. The teams who have scored points against us have not had to work for it, we have just gifted it to them. We need to make sure that we are squeaky clean in those areas and bring a bit more accuracy to our attack.”

“Even in the games we have lost, we have shown that our defensive system works and no teams are going to score easy points if our discipline is right. I think that if we control that and get ourselves on the front foot we will be able to control the game. The boys out wide have shown what they can do when we give them good ball so for the forwards the main focus is giving these guys ball on the front foot.”
