Tom Howe awarded Sir Steve Redgrave Award

Wasps U16 Academy player Tom Howe was recently awarded the Sir Steve Redgrave Award by Wycombe District Council.

Howe, who plays for the RGS High Wycombe first team and has represented England at Under 16 level, was presented the 2011 Sir Steve Redgrave Award for outstanding achievement at International level by Wycombe District Council.

The award, which includes a £1,500 bursary and was named after Britain's five-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Steven Redgrave, was presented to Tom in Court Garden Marlow.

Talking about Tom, who was selected in England’s U16s squad to face Italy U17s and Wales U16s last month, Rob Smith, the London Wasps Academy Manager, said "Tom has had a very successful season, staring with playing regularly for RGS High Wycombe 1st XV U18’s as a U16 age band player."

"Tom has worked hard to develop his game which features excellent speed and agility from the wing position with very good handling skills developed from some time playing as an outside centre in his younger days. Tom performed well during the County/Divisional festival to earn selection to the full England U16 squad and again performed well in the matches against Wales and Italy over the Easter 2011 period."
