The game began in poor conditions with heavy rain, however the pitch held up well as did the skill levels of both teams who proceeded to produce rugby of a very committed and extremely high level. First score went to Twyford after the referee awarded a penalty for offside after heavy pressure on the Ivybridge line. Jack Jolly scoring the 3pts. Straight from the kick off Ivybridge struck back with their inside centre cutting a strong line off a switch back, slicing the Twyford defence wide open and continuing a strong run to touch down just left of the posts. At 7pts to 3pts things did not look good for Twyford with Ivybridge having a renowned defence only having conceded 26pts to date in all matches.
Twyford continued to have the best of possession but excellent Ivybridge defence kept them out, until from a quality lineout close to the line Twyford drove over with Ant Brennan claiming the touchdown, duly converted by Jack Jolly brining up the half time whistle at 10pts to 7pts to Twyford.
After the break both teams continued to battle hard with excellent levels of skill, commitment and control. However this did boil over at one stage leading to a very unnecessary brawl leaving the referee with no alternative but to send off one player from each team. Great pity as the supporters were being well entertain by the quality and committed nature of the game being shown by both teams.
This event effectively ended the game as the Twyford pack took total control and scoring opportunities increased. However excellent defence by Ivybridge kept the only scoring down to two further penalties to Twyford kicked by Will Robinson, leaving Twyford 16pts – 7pts winners at the final whistle and movin above Ivybridge to top the table.
