Wasps supporters at last years Matt Hamspon fundraising walk
The walk, organised by the same group of London Wasps supporters who took part in a similar fundraising walk for the Matt Hampson trust last season, will raise money for the Salvation Army and Breast Cancer Care - two charities nominated by the Lane family.
With the supporters in full fundraising mode they have already raised £2,500 - a fantastic achievement - and they will be looking for your support as the event draws near. Supporters can simply donate, join the walkers enroute or stop by at one of the local events at the supporting rugby clubs - find out more below!
The walkers will set off from Kingsholm on Tuesday 29th April at 1.30pm, aiming for a point just east of Cheltenham, before being collected and returned to Kingsholm for a night of fundraising - with Gloucester's Head Coach, Dean Ryan taking the role of charity auctioneer!
The following day the party will continue their on foot exploits, passing through the village of Naunton en route to Stow-on-the-Wold. A local resident and Gloucester supporter will then be hosting the party at the local pub, where a collection bucket will have been left for a few days. The supporter will then joint the walkers for the rest of the day along with Wasps Alan Black and Premiership referee Ashley Rowden.
Stow-on-the-Wold RFC will then host the walkers for the evening, where they have already arranged a match between their own players and some from Shipston-on-Stour and Tewkesbury. The walkers and local supporters can enjoy a barbecue, some great rugby and a well earned rest, followed by a Q&A with ref Ashley Rowden.
Chipping Norton RFC will be hosting the walkers on 1st May with a fun family barbeque and fundraising raffle. Our Community Partners would like to extend and invitation to welcome all London Wasps supporters to celebrate the fantastic efforts of the charity fundraisers.
Bicester RFC and Chinnor RFC will also host the walkers en route with events and fundraising activity at each stop. London Wasps Community Manager, Dave "blisters" Larham has already signed up for the walk between Bicester and Chinnor where he will be met by other members of the Wasps Community team and members of Chinnor RFC for a night of entertainment - including a braai (South African style barbeque!). Of course all Wasps and Gloucester supporters are encouraged to join the party throughout the walk and at the evening functions - please continue to visit the Wasps website for further details.
Show your support!
There has been great support shown already by London Wasps Official Club Sponsor, Magners, who have donated ten cases of Magners for fundraising raffles and have made a fantastic £1000 donation to the cause! Similarly generosity has also been shown London Wasps Partner Hotel, The Crown Plaza in Marlow, who have donated a voucher for a room for two for a night!
If you would like to show your support then please click here to donate to the Salvation Army, via Just Giving, or to Breast Cancer Care by clicking here. All donations from UK taxpayers made online will have Gift Aid of 28% added to their total.
If you would like to make a donation by cheque, Gift Aid can still be added. Please enclose a note giving your full name and address, together with confirmation that you are a UK taxpayer, and that you are making a Gift Aid donation to the charity of your choice. If you are donating to both charities, you will need to make separate Gift Aid declarations for each charity.
Please make your cheque payable to your chosen charity, and send it to:

All donations gratefully received and thank you for your support!
