Drive Harder

EMC company Iomega and London Wasps are working together to further develop Wasps’ performance

Shaun Edwards,Joe Worsley,Lawrence Dallaglio

Iomega are donating to Wasps a number of eGo Blackbelt Desktop Hard Drives, each with a capacity of 1TB and offering one lucky winner an Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 worth £229!

Following Wasps' need to store, stream, manipulate and transport video data, performance drives such as these were the obvious choice for the coaching department to refine the teams on pitch performance. On receiving the drives, Tony Hanks, London Wasps Director of Rugby said;

“The Iomega eGo Blackbelt Desktop hard drives which Iomega have provided us through their sponsorship with EMC have really streamlined and improved our ability to prepare for Premiership and Heineken Cup games. We store a wealth of videos and other data on our Iomega drives which we can access wherever we are - at the airport, at camp, on the bus, to analyse our performances as well as our opposition, pre and post-match. We've got all the content securely backed up online in the cloud via the Mozy software, so we know it’s always safe. It’s especially going to come in handy for our trip at the end of the month to Abu Dhabi!” - Tony Hanks, London Wasps Director of Rugby

With the advancement and use of technology in rugby, the Iomega hard drives will serve to dramatically streamline and bolster Wasps coaching staff’s analytical capabilities. Now, with Iomega’s help, they will easily be able to upload and download playing and training footage of both their own players as well as their opposition wherever they are, be it at the Wasps training ground in west London, or whilst in camp ahead of a big Heineken Cup clash in France.

Featuring dropguard technology for mobile environments, these sleek drives also include 2 fast FireWire 800 interface, a USB 2.0 interface, plus a FireWire 400 to 800 cable. The kit also allows the coaching staff to backup all data to MozyHome, an offsite Cloud Based Backup Service from wherever they are, so should the Iomega drives be damaged or lost in transit, the priceless content won’t be.
