Born in Ashford, Kent, Tom Varndell started playing rugby at Chinnor RFC, aged 9 and began his professional career at Leicester Tigers in 2005.
Tom made his name in Leicester colours as one of the quickest players in the game, scoring tries for fun and being rewarded with call ups for England at Sevens and senior level, having already played for England U21s.
He joined London Wasps for the 2009/10 season and quickly became a prolific try-scorer for the club.
He was an essential component to the Wasps side in their battle to stay in the Premiership during the 2011/12 season, including the infamous try saving tackle on Sam Vesty in a game against Bath which earned Wasps what proved to be a vital bonus point at the end of the season.
Last season Tom made 28 appearances for the Club and surpassed 100 appearances in total. He crossed the line 18 times in all competitions, including a brilliant hat-trick within 13 minutes against Mogliano Rugby - the quickest hat-trick in European Club Rugby.
With 13 tries apiece in the Aviva Premiership, Tom and Wasps teammate Christian Wade finished last season as the Aviva Premiership's top try scorers. Tom was also awarded as the Supporters Player of the Year.
His work off the pitch has been rewarded with two Community Player of the Year Awards.
