Hugo Southwell

Born in London; Hugo began his professional career at Bristol in 2000 and the fullback has won 59 caps for Scotland. He joined Wasps with Club experience in England, Scotland and France under his belt having previously played at Bristol Worcester, Edinburgh and Stade Francais.

The product of Eastbourne College made his international debut for Scotland in 2004 against Samoa and played in every match from his debut until injury put an end to his 30 game run in the 2007 Six Nations.

Southwell is also a keen cricketer. He was coached at Eastbourne College by the former West Indian test cricketer John Shepherd. Having played three One Day matches for the Sussex Cricket Board as a batting all-rounder before deciding to concentrate on rugby.

Hugo became a very popular member of the side with fans and players alike and at the end of his first season (2011/12) he was awarded the Players Player of the Year after a fine and assured first year, captaining the side on many occasions.

After a successful first season with Wasps, Hugo was named Club Captain for the 2012/13 season. He made 28 appearances for the Club, surpassing 50 appearances for the Club overall and scored 3 tries.
