Andrea Masi 2013/2014

Andrea Masi

Born in L'Aquila, Italy, Masi made his debut for the local side L'Aquila at 16.

He made his international debut for Italy against Spain in 1999 and became a regular in the Italian squad. Now capped 69 times, Masi has represented Italy at three World Cups and was named the RBS Six Nations Player of the Championship in 2011, becoming the first Italian to ever win the award.

Spells at Viadana, Biarritz and Racing Metro have given Masi excellent experience in the European game, and he joined London Wasps from Aironi at the start of the 2012/13 season.

Andrea had a huge impact on the squad last season with his ability to cut through the defence and swiftly became a firm favourite with the Wasps supporters which led to his nomination as Supporters Player of the 2012/13 season. He made 21 appearances for Wasps and scored tries against Mogliano at home and away and also against Bayonne.

Masi also had a brilliant season for Italy. During Italy's most successful 6 Nations campaign to date, he was named Man of the Match against England and was nominated for the 6 Nations Player of the Tournament.
