Jonny Barrett 2005/2006

Jonny Barrett

Jonny Barrett is a talented young hooker who has spent the past few seasons learning from Wasps world-class first team players such as Phil Greening, Trevor Leota and Ben Gotting while appearing several times with Wasps A side. During his time with Wasps, he has also captained the U21 team and played for England Students.

He recently had an operation on both calves in an attempt to treat a painful condition known as compartment syndrome.

Barrett, whose father played for Richmond, began playing mini rugby for Richmond at age six and spent his early years playing in the backline. He stayed there until U18, when London Wasps scouted him whilst he was at Millfield School. Prior to that, he had also played football with Hampshire and Portsmouth youth.

In addition to playing rugby with Wasps, Barrett continued his education. He graduated from the University College of London with a BSc in Human Biology and is a qualified personal trainer. It comes as no surprise, then, that one of his ambitions off the pitch is to become a doctor.

During his spare time, Barrett enjoys seeing films, listening to music, dancing and reading.
