Matt Corker's first full season with Wasps was an umitigated success. The lofty second row played in every game in the 2005-6 season for the A team, and made his Premiership debut for the 1XV against Worcester in March.
He topped the season off by winning the London Wasps Young Player of the Year Award, presented by the club coaches at the annual awards dinner, at the end of the season.
Before joining Wasps however, Matt played rugby for several different teams while finishing off his MChem degree at the University of Bath. In addition to his matches with the 1XV side at Bath, Matt also represented England Universities in January 2004.
To date the towering lock - who considers legendary England lock forward Martin Johnson his sports role model - names his experience with the England University team his best rugby moment, but having established himself as a promising talent last season, it seems there is plenty more in store for Matt.
Although he claims that if he wasn't playing rugby, he would 'move back in with his parents and become a bum,' it is likely that Matt would find a better use of his time. In addition to working hard to finish his MChem programme, Matt has spent quite a bit of time recently volunteering at Oxfam and he says that he would love to learn how to rebuild cars some day.
But, as satisfying as those pursuits may be, Matt will have a hard time topping his current claim to fame - meeting Hulk Hogan while on holiday.
