Richard Birkett is a long-serving forward who made his Wasps debut in 1999. He has now made 233 senior appearances, including a number of victorious finals at Twickenham.
Birkett missed a large portion of last season after having surgery on his shoulder and fracturing his eye socket, but will hope for better fortune this year in which he will share his testimonial season with John Hart.
During a year at Millfield School, Birkett began playing rugby every day and earned a place in the U18s England squad.
At Wasps, he played an integral part in the team that won the Premiership finals in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2008. He also played in the victorious Heineken Cup final in 2004. With a number of young forwards on the Wasps books this year, his experience will be a key part of their development.
His representative honours include England A.
