Born in Harrogate, Phil Swainston started playing rugby at Harrogate RFC and began his professional career at Otley.
Swainston joined the Leeds Academy as a teenager.
The tight-head gained plenty of first team exposure for Leeds making 26 appearances in their final season in the Premiership before the side was relegated.
Swainston was injured for much of last season but has strong experience at representative level having played for England at U18 and U20 level.
