Tom Rees

Appointed Club Captain at the start of last season, Rees was unable to play until late March, after undergoing two operations on a shoulder he'd injured nearly twelve months earlier. He produced a remarkable performance in his comeback at Northampton and played six more times before the end of the season, to take his total appearances for the Club to 102.

Born in Hampshire and a former pupil of High Wycombe RGS, Rees joined Wasps as a member of the Academy in 2003 but made his way into the 1XV in 2004/05, making his presence known throughout the season by scoring two tries and winning the Man of the Match award.

His impressive performances earned him a senior contract for 2005/06 and he earned three further Man of the Match Awards in a series of strong performances.

He started strong in 2006/07, racking up 25 appearances, scoring four tries and securing a Heineken Cup winners medal, and finished the season with a trip to France for the World Cup.

An impressive 2007/08 season ended with Rees scoring the opening try in the Premiership final win against Leicester Tigers, which he followed with two outstanding performances for England in New Zealand.

On the international scene, Rees has represented England at U16, U18, U19, U21 and Sevens levels, as well as captaining the U21 side in the 2005 Six Nations Cup

Rees earned his first senior cap with England as a replacement against Scotland in the 2007 Six Nations. In his fourth game he was named Man of the Match, against France in his first test start, and was subsequently named in the 2007 World Cup squad. He also played in the 2008 and 2009 Six Nations, winning 15 test caps to date.
