Serge Betsen 2009/2010

Serge Betsen

The legendary French flanker joined Wasps in 2008 and made his debut against Northampton Saints on 20th September. Betsen retired from international rugby in January 2008, after winning 63 caps with France and scoring 9 tries.

The flanker joined Biarritz Olympique when he was just 17 and made his senior Club debut for the Club in 1996 and his international debut only a year later. Betsen has many achievements under his belt, being a veteran in the 2003 and 2007 Rugby World Cups and winning the IRB World Player of the Year Award in 2002. He made a huge impact in his opening season with Wasps, captaining the side on a number of occasions, and being named Players' Player of the Year.

Betsen played with ex-fellow Wasp Josh Lewsey for the Barbarians against England this summer, beating them at Twickenham 33-26. In his time away from rugby, Betsen spends time with his family, as well as being the owner of the 'Kemana Health Spa' in Biarritz.
