One of the great forwards of the modern game, whose career spans the amateur and professional eras, Simon Shaw is now the longest serving Premiership player.
He first played against Wasps as a 17-year-old playing for Bristol, before joining Wasps in 1997 after the Lions tour to South Africa.
2000 saw Shaw become the only lock in history to have scored a drop goal in the Premiership, claiming his three points against Bath at Loftus Road. Simon was voted London Wasps Players' Player of the Season in 2003 and in 2004 won the Zurich Premiership Player of the Season Award.
Shaw celebrated his tenth season at Wasps with a Benefit Year in 2006/07, in which he raised funds for charities throughout the year. That season also saw Shaw make 27 appearances in the Heineken Cup winning side. He has now made a total of 319 appearances for the Club, with 25 tries to add to his drop goal.
Internationally Simon has many honours to his name, making his England debut in November 1996 against Italy. He was originally picked for the 1995 World Cup squad but missed the tournament after rupturing his knee ligaments two weeks before England training began.
Shaw has also been on three Lions tours, the most recent being the 2009 tour to South Africa where he played in two tests and was named Man of the Match in his Lions test debut. Shaw scored his first two international tries for England against Canada, in Vancouver, in June 2001. He was initially left out of the 2003 World Cup squad but injury to Danny Grewcock meant Shaw was called out to Australia and returned with a winner's medal.
Simon was also called up for England duty in the 2007 World Cup, playing in every game, and has now won 59 caps.
