Eoghan Hickey 2009/2010

Eoghan Hickey

The 27-year-old Irish fly half /full back joins Wasps from London Irish, where he spent two seasons and scored 107 points in 25 appearances. Hickey has represented Ireland at schoolboy, U21 and A levels and lists Munster, Leinster and University College Dublin amongst his former teams.

He was offered a fulltime contract after impressing Director of Rugby Tony Hanks, at pre-season training in Poland. 'Eoghan gives us depth at fly half which is important in the Guinness Premiership and will add competition for Danny (Cipriani) and Dave (Walder) at 10. He brings a strong kicking game to the team and he has a wealth of experience having played with Ireland A as well as plenty of rugby at Premiership level. He is a quality fly half but he also has the ability to play full back which, along with his strong kicking game, is something that could be really valuable to us this year especially with the importance that kicking is playing in the modern game.'

Outside of rugby, Hickey boasts a BSc in Statistics, and a HDip in Business Studies, from University College, Dublin.
