Kiwi-born Joe Ward made a promising impression in his debut with Wasps in 2005 against Northampton Saints. He joined Wasps straight from New Zealand, where he'd played NPC and Super 12 rugby. He'd also gained recognition on an international level, winning honours at U19 and U21 level for his native country.
After captaining New Zealand at U21 level and nailing his Super 12 contract, Ward became frustrated with his limited time on the pitch. He wanted a fresh challenge and decided to move to England and join Wasps.
Joe's displays on the pitch at the start of the 2007/08 season showed his abilities, determination and winning mentality. Having qualified for England through residency, he has now played for England Saxons.
