Danny Cipriani

An original product of the London Wasps Academy, Cipriani joined Wasps in 2003, after leaving Rosslyn Park RFC. Only one year later, he made his 1st XV appearance for Wasps in the Powergen Cup in December 2004 against Bristol. The appearance made him the youngest player to take to the pitch in a senior rugby game at the time, being only 17.

Danny made his first starting match debut for Wasps in January 2007 when he played full-back against Worcester and was also given the Man of the Match Award. After marking his debut on a high, he continued to shine for Wasps and rounded off the season with collecting a Churchill Cup winner's medal with the England Saxons and making it into England's initial training squad for the 2007 Rugby World Cup. This season also saw him collecting the Academy Player of the Year at the London Wasps Awards Dinner.

Despite missing out on the Rugby World Cup squad, his scintillating performances did earn himself a place in Brian Ashton's England 2008 Six Nations squad, and he won his first cap during that campaign. His performances were also recognized when he was voted PRA Young Player of the Year and named the Guinness Premiership Discovery of the Season.

The season ended with a horrific injury, in the Premiership semi-final. He was out of the game until October, and played the rest of the season with a plate in his leg. Showing his dedication to the game he recovered well finding his form with consistent game time with both Club and Country, travelling to Denver with the Saxons this summer. He is currently working to be fit for the start of 09/10 following removal of the plate.
