Born in L'Aquila, Italy, Masi made his debut for the local side L'Aquila at 16.
He made his international debut for Italy against Spain in 1999 and became a regular in the Italian squad. Now capped 69 times, Masi has represented Italy at three World Cups and was named the RBS Six Nations Player of the Championship in 2011, becoming the first Italian to ever win the award.
Spells at Viadana, Biarritz and Racing Metro have given Masi excellent experience in the European game, and he joined London Wasps from Aironi alongside teammate Fabio Staibano.
