Leon was born in Thames, New Zealand and attended Waikato University where he studied history, politics and teaching.
During his playing career, Leon played for New Zealand youth, Waikato Colts and Thames Valley in the NPC before injury brought a premature end to his days as a second rower.
He then became one of the brightest young coaches in the 'Land of the Long White Cloud' and coached Thames Valley before taking charge of Japanese club Sanix in 2004.
Leon joined London Wasps in the summer of 2005 - his chief responsibility to ensure the team's set-piece strategies run according to plan ' most notably the line-out area. In March 2008 Leon will take over the role of Forwards Coach from Craig Dowd who departs the club for New Zealand.
Away from the game, Leon enjoys spending time with his family, playing with son Harrison and watching the television with Dad's Army and rugby matches his preferred viewing.
