Up to 78 mins everything was looking well on track for a deserved win. Hodgson set up an early lead with 2 penalties but the King answered his critics with 2 well taken penalties to level the scores early on. Mark Cueto, the sale wing, scored after Hodgson missed three penalty attempts to take the score to 13-6.
Fraser waters, our player of the season, scored a dazzling try, taking the score to 13 apiece. Two penalties followed after great bullocking runs by Shawsy and Leota. Up 19-13 at half-time.
Sale hit back with a 46th minute try from prop Stuart Turner. Hodgson converted making the score 20-19. King, who had a devastating day with the boot, did not miss a kick all day, took a cheeky deflected drop goal to put Wasps up 22-20.
Disaster struck in the 78th minute when Trevor was sin-binned for allegedly killing the ball. This led to Martin Offiah being taken off as a scrum was awarded when we should have taken off Paul Volley. Sale attacked and Elliot scored due to the overlap and once again we lost in the last few minutes for the umpteenth time this season. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!
Positives to come out of this were a great debut for prop Ali Mckenzie and Jon Barrett making it off the bench for his first cap in the 78th minute. But we'll mention to him that his appearance cost us the game.
By the way Lawrence got on in the 53rd minute.
