Defence holds strong as Wasps secure victory in pre-season opener

Wasps secure a 13-3 win over Dax at the Stade Maurice Boyau this evening in their first pre-season clash.

In heavy rain the Guinness Premiership champions held strong, taking their 10-3 lead at half time - thanks to a well worked try from Tom Voyce and an earlier penalty and successful conversion from Mark Van Gisbergen - to a final score of 13-3.

The second half saw Van Gisbergen add Wasps final three points with a penalty early on and as play continued the young side, fielding all but one of the new summer signings along with many of the up coming names in the academy, held their defence well to keep the home side at bay.
