Tom Voyce crosses the line for Wasps at Murrayfield
Facing Edinburgh in their penultimate pre-season fixture, Wasps lost out to Andy Robinson's Magners League side at Murrayfield this afternoon despite tries from Pat Barnard, Tom Voyce and James Haskell.
Holding their lead at half time with a 10-3 score line, Wasps had shown their dominance at the breakdown early on, allowing prop Pat Barnard to cross the line for his third club try since joining at the start of 2007/08.
As Wasps took hold of the second quarter, Josh Lewsey was next to attack and despite Edinburgh holding their defence well, winger Tom Voyce found space to cross in the corner just before the break.
With a seven point lead, Wasps returned to the pitch for the second half but it was Edinburgh who stole the show with two tires in ten minutes courtesy of Nick De Luca and Phil Godman.
New signing Lachlan Mitchell in action
As Chris Paterson successfully added the extras for the home side - taking the scores level at 15 apiece, Wasps and England young gun James Haskell slipped through the Edinburgh defence with a well worked try to reclaim the lead for the visitors.
With an adrenaline fuelled run into the close of the half, it was Edinburgh's Geoff Cross who found centre stage collecting the ball on Wasps' ten-metre line to run in the final score of the afternoon.
