Wasps are out of the European Cup &ndash sent packing by the boot of Diego Dominguez.

The Italian international equalled a tournament record by kicking eight penalties at Loftus Road as a late Wasps rally, failed to claw back a 10-point gap going into the closing couple of minutes.

Wasps have lost three of their four group games &ndash including a 40-18 hammering by Stade Francais in Paris &ndash and they are the latest casualties in a disappointing European Cup for English teams so far.

At least, the Londoners spirit wasn’t lacking.

The conditions were dreadful but Kenny Logan and Dominguez swapped successful penatlies to make in 12-12 before Franck Comba crossed over for the visitor’s only try.

Logan’s contribution was immense as Wasps stayed in touch at 18-19 at half-time.

But Dominguez, capped 61 times for his country, kicked another four penalties before a late Wasps rally brought a last-minute try by Denney, converted by Dominguez.
