Coach The Coaches Programme

We offer Continuous Professional Development opportunities for grassroots rugby coaches to develop their knowledge and coaching skills; in partnership with Rhino Rugby

The London Wasps Coach The Coaches Programme in partnership with Rhino Rugby

These FREE sessions are aimed at Level 1 & Level 2 coaches and school teachers who want to gain ideas and game understanding to help promote an improved level of rugby delivery to their young players. The sessions are hosted by our Community Partner Rugby Clubs and delivered by experienced RFU-Qualified Coach Developers, Coach Educators and Coach Trainers from within our Community Team; with an open invitation extended to local school teachers and neighbouring rugby club coaches. This is an ideal opportunity for coaches and teachers to exchange ideas, network and establish new partnerships. The session formats will be for our host club to provide players for our Delivery Staff to coach during practical sessions, while we provide ongoing dialogue with the observing coaches and teachers on the processes being used and answer questions throughout.

How do the coaches develop? Experienced coaches and new coaches to the game are challenged and rewarded alike by our experienced delivery staff in a safe, active, purposeful and enjoyable coach-centred environment. The programme delivery incorporates the London Wasps Community Foundation Grassroots Pillar of Activity main development themes for the young people being coached, while promoting the Rugby Football Union’s Core Values:

  • Physical development - using healthy, enjoyable exercise
  • Skill development - helping children improve performance levels
  • Social development - using team games, co-operative skills and fair play
  • Mental development - establishing and reinforcing confidence and self esteem

TEAMWORK – RESPECT – ENJOYMENT – DISCIPLINE – SPORTSMANSHIP

Delivered as part of the Grass Roots Rugby, Club Support and Education Pillars of Activity of the London Wasps Community Foundation
