Our commitment to our community is through long-term projects that contain a focused purpose and outcome. Our community benefit greatly from the activities and once the outcome has been achieved, the engagement vehicle of rugby allows us to further our aims of developing our brand and reputation while our Partners and Sponsors benefit from their investment.
We have become synonymous within our community schools for delivering Tag Rugby and Festivals under the projects sponsorships of Aviva, Mars In The Community, MBNA, and the NSPCC; while no half-term school holiday would be complete without the opportunity for young people aged 6 to 16 to take part in our CoacHclass Programme held at local community club venues.
"At London Wasps we recognise the importance of our Community Programmes and the responsibility that we have as professional players and staff to be positive role models and ambassadors for our sport and our club. We are delighted that our projects reach so many young people and adults from all backgrounds in our community. It is important that we continue to generate new interest in rugby participation and sustainable support for London Wasps." David Young Director of Rugby, London Wasps
Our community has joined us and shared in our successes; as our Community Team has displayed trophies such as the Heineken Cup, European Challenge Cup, Premiership Trophies and Powergen Cup during hundreds of visits to as many community venues and events as possible to display some of the finest silverware available in Northern Hemisphere Rugby.
Under our Community Rugby Manager Dave Larham, we have 6 full-time employees and 200 part-time coaches, and have identified that in order to grow we need to restructure and took the decision to form a charitable foundation. The London Wasps Community Foundation will create an educational and sporting trust as a vehicle for the programme; buffering the work against the boom or bust of our team while building a regional and national profile that attracts new investment and unlocks new resources.
Our Foundation will focus on creating effective partnerships, forging links with a wide range of local, regional and national partners; striving to implement innovative, effective and high quality programmes that provide real value to their beneficiaries and help meet the objectives of our partners.
