This year is the 34th Anniversary of youth rugby in Chichester. The club which started in 1975 has grown each year and last year had over 450 fully registered players and a coaching team of over 100. Players from 6 to 16 form the structure of the club with the emphasis being on skill development, teamwork and most of all fun in a safe environment.

Progression through the club has proved successful with many of the current first team having started their playing careers in the mini section. Over the last few years the club has dominated the West Sussex rugby scene with many teams achieving the status of West Sussex Champions and some going on to become county champions.

The club has fostered great talent over the years with Andy Gomarsall, a member of England's World Cup winning squad, having started playing rugby with us. Other minis who have gone on to represent their country at various levels include, Vanessa Gray, Simon Bradford, Paul Hopkins, Simon Lippiett, Eddie Armagh and Robert Lawrence. Most recently, Charlie Mathews and Kieran Lowe have been selected to represent England at U20.

The club now has year 5 status under the RFU 'Seal of Approval' charter mark. It is run entirely by volunteers, and parents are actively encouraged to participate in every aspect of it's continued growth.

Each age group is led by an RFU qualified coach, usually supported by 5 other Level 1 or above coaches thus ensuring that all age groups benefit from the most up to date and appropriate training methods. However, the main focus continues to be around having fun and developing strong friendships within the squads. The tradition of winning festivals in fancy dress is well established at the club...

The club is playing an increasing part in the community with coaches working on a voluntary basis to deliver rugby events in local schools as well as TAG rugby competitions in the area. Coaches also support local police initiatives such as SNAP as a way of attracting all in our community to take part in rugby.
