If anyone played or followed rugby in Oxfordshire between 1967 and 1998 you may recall seeing the name Cholsey RFC, but whose name then suddenly vanished from the fixture list, to be replaced in 1999 by Wallingford RFC. The club ground is located within the 'Hithercroft Sports Park' and shares it's facilities with other sporting clubs such as AFC Wallingford and Wallingford Cricket Club. The rugby club maintains four pitches to a high standard. In recent times, facilities both on and off the field have been upgraded to provide players and spectators alike, with some of the best surroundings to play and watch rugby.

For season 2008 -2009 the First XV will play in the South West 2 East league. The Second XV will compete in the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division Premier A league. The Third XV (Old Moles) will play in the Thames Valley Invitation League Division B.

On the social side the club has a large and thriving Vice President membership scheme, and anyone is welcome to join the club as a Vice President and enjoy the benefits that this type of membership allows. The club also hosts large sporting dinners on a regular basis in the Main Hall at the Sports Park, and these are attended by non-members as well as actual members.

Wallingford RFC is also proud to boast one of the oldest and largest Mini & Junior sections in the country which provides a high standard of rugby for over 250 children every Sunday. The age groups of the children range from 6 to the Under 19 Colts Team and we have over 40 qualified volunteer coaches helping the kids on a Sunday morning. In September 2007 the club anticipates being awarded the RFU Clubmark Seal of Approval in recognition of the excellent work that it does in terms of youth rugby.
